Hi,

I am looking for a CMS that allows the following:

Multiple users to simply add news to a front page

The front page automatically removing old articles, and placing them on a linked-to archive page.

A pretty central gallery, to which users can upload pictures with corresponding information

Very customisable - i.e. I want a very minimalist look, with alomst nothing on the front page apart from the news

Other pages that are simple to update, and enforce any styles I have put in place.

A forum

Can ocPortal do this? I want an easy to use site, that doesn't look like every other CMS created site out there. The gallery in ocPortal looks great functionality wise, but is pretty ugly - are there more attractive add-ons?

Please be unbaised - I know that you use ocPortal, but that doesn't mean it's right for me. I am quite technical, so can learn as I go along, but don't want to be dropped in the deep end straight away. I am trying to acieve a specific look, so if I created a header with dropdown menu in Fireworks, could this be added to ocPortal.

Has anyone got any examples of some beautiful ocPortal sites, by the way?

Thanks!

Depends on your design skills

Unless you build your own CMS you're going to have to accept the fundamental CMS design defaults. But ocPortal is eminently customisable and you should be able to come up with something that is 'different'.

Steep learning curve; have to start thinking laterally. You'd probably find 'Fireworks' is unnecessary as you could probably achieve most of what you want by editing the CSS properties for the various segments.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder (designer, in this case), but there are several sites that you can visit by clicking on a member's signature link, or visit the examples offered by this website.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

That's really useful. I'll definitely give ocPortal a try.
