Hello,
Is there an already developed booking addon for the latest version? I need to have a booking script that can handle all booking types from hotels, apartments, cars, artists, etc

Your help will be highly appreciated

We have our booking addon which is under the Developers addon category, because it will not meet the needs of some users yet:
Booking - ocPortal.com
Discussed here:
An online booking engine - ocPortal.com

It does work, but it doesn't take payments which is probably the biggest thing people might want.

To be honest, if you're making a site that supports booking all those things, it sounds you almost certainly like a serious project you would want a programmer for. If you need that range and flexibility, with specifics that allow it to match all those things, I doubt anything 'off the shelf' would work in a way that end users find user friendly.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. But how soon will the "An online booking engine - ocPortal.com" ever be ready because i do see that it was discussed way back in 2011 and i would expect it to be some how ready now. Seriously, your booking engine would be special because most of the booking software available tend to be for one particular item.

I would love to test it even when still in development ( if possible)

Looking forward to seeing it stable soon.

Thank you
Ronnie

It is stable and running (we have at least one live site running it), but additional features can only be added when someone sponsors the additional functionality, or we do a client project that requires it, or another developer contributes improvements. This is generally how it works here, we need funding to move stuff forward, as everything is given out free.
