My woes and problems thread!

I chose to do the "manual installation" cause I don't know how to do the "quick installation" for this. O_o

I uploaded the zip file and did an extraction there.
Started the installation.

Step 1 of 10

An ocPortal file, data_custom/ocp_sitemap.xml is corrupt - it needs to be re-uploaded.
So I did what it asked.
Still get the same message.

I can continue but I don't want to with this error message. What can I do?

Edit: Tried downloading zip file again, extracted, and uploaded file. Still gives me error.

I decided to go another route… It finally "clicked" how to do the quick installer. Guess I am a bit slow, lol. Anyway, the quick installer for RC1 was a dload.php file, not a zip file like it should be. Well, it was like that for me anyhoo.

I went back a version… to beta2.

This is where I am at. Will update this post if it's not replied to with my progress.

EDIT 1: Was able to quick install 4.2 beta2. Next step is an ugrade.
EDIT 2: Upgrade went 100% okay. Updated files and database as required and no problems!

I went through each zone (site, forums, personal zone, collaboration zone, content management, admin zone) and all seemed to work okay except site and forums zones.

Below is the error and stack trace.

This last thing is because OCF isn't upgraded. Follow the note in the upgrade pinned topic about setting ocf_version to 4.1 before doing the DB upgrade. It's still okay to do this now.

4.2 beta upgrades

For OCF to upgrade it must think it is upgrading from version 4.1, not version 4.2. Therefore before starting the upgrade please run this query (substitute your correct table prefix if it is not the default):
UPDATE `ocp4_values` SET `the_value` = '4.1' WHERE `the_name` = 'ocf_version'
Alternatively run this from OcCLE:
:set_value('ocf_version','4.1');

Not sure I can still do it now...

ErrorSQL query:

UPDATE
`ocp4_values`
SET

Hi,

Okay, the quick installer issue can be ignored - we should have filtered out checks against that file.

If the file downloaded as dload.php it's probably a Firefox issue, it often has problems properly naming the files it downloads if they came from a script.

This SQL error, it's because you pasted in too much. The query starts 'UPDATE' and the bit before that is a note from me, not part of the query. If you prefer just do it manually in phpMyadmin: browse to the ocp4_values table and manually edit the ocf_version row to have a value of 4.1.

I guess it is my lack of sleep, sorry.

I rechecked and added just this:
UPDATE `ocp4_values` SET `the_value` = '4.1' WHERE `the_name` = 'ocf_version'

The two zones work now.

THANK YOU, CHRIS!

Going to run the Setup Wizard after some sleep. :lol:

Okay, so now I am working on a theme!

Here's my two theme issues:

1.) I seem to have messed up my alignment. Looking at attachment, could I get assistance how to fix it so all that text is not butted up against the right so far?

2.) I would like the background color to be "e3e9f2" instead of "ffffff". I am referring to the background color where the blocks and main text will reside (as seen in attachment also). I went to global.css and assumed it was this

Code

.re_body {
padding: 0 !important;
color: #0d1522; /* {$,wizard, 20% seed + 80% !W/B} */
background: #FFFFFF; /* {$,wizard, 100% W/B} */
So I changed #FFFFFF to #e3e9f2 and reloaded my page. It was still white. So I went further into the css file to

Code

#body_inner {
width: 960px;
margin: 0 auto;
background: white;
/* border-left: 1px solid #c1c1c1;
border-right: 1px solid #c1c1c1;*/
}
And changed white to #e3e9f2. But I still get nothing. I don't know exactly where the template cache was, so I went to the upgrader and cleared all caches. But I still see white. :'( Any ideas?

Have you got a side-panel on the forum zone? When you have one, it automatically removed the member information bar, I found.

If I've helped you, please click 'points' and show your appreciation!

Okay, so Brian brought it to my attention that folks are being asked for my cPanel stuff when viewing this thread.  :lol:  No idea why but I am guessing it's a comcode thing when I copied and pasted somewhere.

Anyway, am curious if someone can help me with the getting back my member panel at the top of the forums. I can fix the alignment issue on my own.

Thanks!

Turn off 'wide' for the forum. It's not the panel as such, it's whether you have them set to show (whether they exist or not).

Playing around with the "guest" settings. I logged out as admin and went to my forums and get this:

" Your login as "Guest" must be confirmed before you may enter this high-security area (you do not currently have a confirmed session). "

What is my next step to prevent this? I'm pretty sure it's on my end?! Or are 'all guests' going to get this?

This is another zone option, it's called something like 'high security' or 'require session' and enabling it has the side effect of preventing guest access.
