Hi Everyone,

I'm a long time Joomla user but I thought I'd give ocPortal a go. Unfortunately I have come across a problem with the installation

Some important informaton:

My webspace provider is 1and1.co.uk
I downloaded ocPortal through the quick installer
My OS is Ubuntu 10.4
I am trying to install through Firefox browser

I have reached the point where I input the database hostname, username etc. I then press install and within a few seconds I get a message saying:

data/.htaccess: Not a directory

Do you think this is something I have done or something to do with 1and1?

Please see the screenshot below, any assistance would be much appreciated.

Paul

Hi,

I just tried installing on a 1&1 account of ours without problem, but I'm happy to try and get your install done. If you'd like me to have a shot please submit a free support ticket with FTP details.

I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Non-joined user

On trying to install ocPortal on windows 7, using localhost as server, when I get to the Install button, I get a message
"Could not connect to database-server (when authenticating) (Access denied for user 'alan101'@'localhost' (using password: YES))"
This, in spite of putting in a 12-figure password previously'
I am new to this business, so if I have posted a reply which should have gone elsewhere, I apologise in advance.

Hi Alan,

This, in spite of putting in a 12-figure password previously

Putting in the password to what, the installer, or the MySQL management console when setting up a MySQL user?

Is MySQL installed and correctly configured with this alan101 account?
