I am attempting to integrate this portal, however once I get to the SQL step I hit next and get the error message "Access denied for user webuser@localhost using password NO". This is a Maria DB 5.3 due to Mysql being discontinued, I have checked the user account and other applications have no issues with the username and password only OCPortal. Any idea's what is causing this (I am using Cpanel)

The cPanel installation must have set a password on the database, and I assume it should have given you the correct details upon installation. You should be able to view the database (and password) in cPanel, but if not contact your host for assistance.

The message suggests you didn't put the database password into the installer. Of course a mistake like that seems unlikely, but I can't immediately think of another cause.

I can see you had exactly the same issue before:

But nobody else has. And I replied before but you didn't come back. If you want to open a bug report ticket with all the access needed for us to try installation on your server ourselves (passwords etc), then I'll see if I can track it down.

It should work on MariaDB fine as it is 100% compatible with the legacy of MySQL. But I should not MySQL has not been discontinued. Possible some Linux distributions have switched to MariaDB though.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
