fresh install - this should not happen

Table 'ocforum.ocp4_f_groups' doesn't exist

I installed [or trying to] the latest version from ocPortal, doublechecked everything on the server [had to do a manual uupload yesterday, firefox kept stalling out. Completed the manual upload [unzipped on the server], then did all chmod permissions required [doublechecked those also] -
today, I now went to install, got to step 7 - now this error.

need to know how to fix what and where. This should not even happen, since the db is also a separate db from the portal cms db.

Thanks and appreciate help.

By 'latest version', are you referring to the latest stable release (4.2.2) or the release-candidate (4.3 RC2)?

latest stable release 4.2.2 - sorry for got to state this in my post.
I am also looking at the database, and the table is definitely there, showing 10 rows.

Do you need to see the stac trace?

stac trace

Unfortunately a query has failed [SELECT g.id,text_original,g_name FROM ocp4_f_groups g LEFT JOIN ocp4_translate t on language='EN' AND g.g_name=t.id ORDER BY g_order] [Table 'ocforum.ocp4_f_groups' doesn't exist]

Here is the stack trace:

Below is a stack trace revealing the state the software was in when the error occurred. If this represents a bug in the unmodified software, you may want to check ocPortal website for a fix, and if there isn't one, report this as a bug. Please note that merely posting a stack trace is not sufficient for us to solve your problem; the stack trace is just an aid that presents us with additional information. We still need to know the error message, what you tried to do, how you tried to do it, version numbers, and any other appropriate information.
We apologise for this problem and if it's a bug we hope you will work with us so that we can fix it for you promptly.

Hi,

I've seen you're very anxious about this. Looking into it now…

Become a fan of ocPortal on Facebook or add me as a friend. Add me on on Twitter.
Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Hi,

I've now looked into this and I can reproduce what you see.

This is an interface/documentation problem rather than a bug, as the site and forum database need to be the same (for OCF) unless you are linking to an already-existing ocPortal install in order to create a multi-site-network. In that scenario the central site would be installed first, then satellite sites would be installed to use it. The problem here is you are referencing an OCF database that is not yet populated, and the installer won't populate it as it only installs OCF into the site database.

I hope that explains the issue. Clearly the interface did not explain this, and we will rectify that.

Is the problem here that he's trying to bring an existing non OCF Forum into use in a multi-site network situation?

In other words, does he need to set up the first site as fully OC Portal, then IMPORT his old forum database, and THEN start installing the rest of the sites….

I thought about bringing in my old forum database when I set up my multi site network, but opted for the complete reset of the community…he might need to hire you to import the old data the way he needs…if importing does not produce the results he wants. Depends on the old forum system he was using i guess.

ha, while I was busy desperately trying to finish my ticket for hiring the team, here we go - I got some answers. THANK YOU guys.

I have tried 3 times over the past 2 hrs to submit my ticket, but it always times out, because I cannot explain my project just in a few sentences.

So, I will appeal to Chris to give me an email address where I can submit my project for their estimate.

I decided to do the following:
simply go ahead and pout up my - money earner - site, and at the same time hire the team, to develop the master project.
I could not do it by myself anyway, would take forever. Since I want a complete fresh start with this project on a new platform, and I still believe can be that platform.

But my requirements are so extensive that I am looking at a minimum of 1 yr. development. I know, because I waster the past 2.5 yrs on a development phase that wound up in the trash - I trashed it by stopping it.

I will go ahead and delete what I have up right now - the attempted install of the Portal -  and simply will place for now the old sites back up, since the development will be taking place on a development server anyway.

by the way - what is this with the code in forum post writing: it gives me an error every time I mention the word of the portal, cannot even write the actual name of this script or team, it does not let me post with it in it. Very annoying.

That last post was me, via SU. I think what you observed may have been incidental– it seems to work, and I can't think of anything that would filter it (plus people would have been screaming quite a while!).

Perhaps connection problems?

I sent you an e-mail yesterday before having to leave early due to snow, hopefully you got it :).

Hi Chris,
yes, thank you got your 2 emails and the attachment.
Answered your last one.

Despite that I have everything complete for structure, specs, snaps etc. it still will take me 1/2 day to package it so it actually makes sense to someone that comes new to this project.

Look very much forward working with your team next year [hahaha, probably well into 2011]

Take care, have a good weekend and if we don't talk anymore before - have a very, very good Christmas :)

I will to a degree ofcourse. Not all can be made public during development but I will do updates on the progress. If Chris and his Team agree to work on that one, am sure they too will make a post here and there.

Well-settled

Hi to all people, im new here i have just today download the installer and im tryng to instal the script but after 3 time tryng to install with different install mode, give me this error:
Critical error - bailing out

This is an error that has been elevated to critical error status because it occured during the primary error mechanism reporting system itself (possibly due to it occuring within the standard output framework). It may be masking a secondary error that occured before this, but was never output - if so, it is likely strongly related to this one, thus fixing this will fix the other.

Unfortunately a query has failed [SELECT s.*,m.m_primary_group FROM ocp4_sessions s LEFT JOIN ocp4_f_members m ON m.id=s.the_user ORDER BY last_activity] [Table '710238_fenaco.ocp4_sessions' doesn't exist] (version: 4.2.2, PHP version: 4.4.9, URL: /?keep_show_parse_errors=1)

ive check all and the data base is ok, i use only one data base just for this script.
i dont know what s the problem… some people can help me please? thanks very much!!
