Hi, I'm trying to install and had the installation go extremely smoothly until the last step.  I have tried both quick and manual installs.  This is the error I recieve:

Unfortunately a query has failed [SELECT profilefieldid FROM profilefield WHERE title='ocp_points_used'] [<strong>Unknown column 'title' in 'where clause'</strong>]

Edit:  I did manage to successfully install ocportal without integrating it to any forum software, so it most be a problem trying to tie-in with the vbulletin installation (3.6.7) I'm currently running.

Any idea how to get around this?

Hi,

This looks like an incompatibility with that version of vBulletin. I've noted down on my schedule to take a look at that.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Hello,

It seems we may be able to unofficially support version 3.6 via some manual editing of the ocPortal info.php file:

Our forum nuances tutorial said

If you use vBulletin 3.6 or later put:

Code

$SITE_INFO[vb_version]=3.6;
into info.php.

As you're installing from-fresh, you'll need to do this just after step 5 of the installer has finished (step 5 creates this info.php file).

I realise this is a bit of a fiddly thing to do, but vBulletin 3.6 was released after version 3 of ocPortal, so any support was added on outside our normal development cycle.

Community saint

Its good to know that people are using ocPortal with vbulletin as that might bring more members here.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.
