Trying to install this thing i get this error

ocPortal error

Object

Details here are intended for the website/system-administrator, not for regular website users. If you are a regular website user, please let the website staff deal with this problem.

Depending on the error, you may need to edit the base configuration (the info.php file).

ocProducts maintains full documentation for all procedures and tools. These may be found on the ocPortal website. If you are unable to easily solve this problem, we may be contacted from our website and can help resolve it for you.

that after i put in my ftp/bd info and click install ocportal (step 4)

now one thing that may be giving me problems…im kinda restricted on teh names of my sql db's by the host…
thier software (webbased) requires all sql db's to have the prefix  "smithfieldhosting_com_-_"

and in myphp admin i get access denied when i try to manualy create a db named "ocf"

any clue?

Please give more details, as with this we only know that some error occured for you, at some point during installation. Usually we could do a bit better but unfortunately there's not even a proper error message being given out by ocPortal. Please give:
  • the latter part of the URL that the error occurs on
  • the 'forum driver' you selected
  • information on how the error displayed. This one's pretty confusing as this is a 'critical error', but you mentioned how you did something 'after it' - which wouldn't normally be possible.

The database name input field only says 'ocf' as a default - you may change it to anything you like :).

Yea, I had the same problem. Happened after it said something like "Files extracted and CHOMD (2000 of 2850)" it wouldnt go any further. I just did the manual one after that...and everything works great now.

I've run some tests and I couldn't reproduce a problem. However, the error reporting system in the installer did have a bug that has been masking the true error messages - I believe that you both received two separate legitimate input errors (perhaps due to inputting incorrect information, as most do once or twice until they get it right).

I have therefore replaced the quick installer package so that proper error messages will henceforth be returned.

Try creating a new file named '.htaccess' where you're installing. The file should contain:

Code

php_value memory_limit "16M"

You don't need to start over. However if it's the same error you got after trying the .htaccess file, keeping retrying will most likely not work. I'll investigate this problem and see if I can come to a solution. Officially, we don't support an 8MB memory restriction, but we do try to.

Can I ask what PHP version you're using? I'm testing on PHP 5.1 and it's going ok down to a 6.1MB limit, so I need to know what to test on.

Well, now that the files are there you could download this: Download: ocPortal product-integration archive - ocPortal.com
and extract install.sql, and import that into the database you're using (after removing any current ocPortal tables that were placed there by the partial installation). I can't actually remember what the admin login is for that SQL dump though, so you'd need to mess around in phpMyAdmin to reset the password manually.

How to reset a password manually

Go to the f_members table in phpMyAdmin, edit the row of the admin user, and change the m_password_compatibility_scheme field to 'md5', the m_pass_salt field to '' (blank), and put your password in the 'm_pass_hash_salted' field, and tell phpMyAdmin to run 'MD5' on that 'm_pass_hash_salted' field.

That's the mySQL version, not the PHP version.

It turns out I was testing the memory usage on the wrong screen. In fact, my test system fails on 7.9MB, so this is only a small difference in PHP memory usage behaviour. I'm sure I can optimise this problem out because I can't see a reason the stage would require as much memory as it is doing..

Next to the input box for each field is a list. In that list is an entry, 'MD5'. At least, that's how it is on my version of phpMyAdmin.

Alternatively you could run a query…

Code

UPDATE ocp2_f_members SET m_pass_hash_salted=MD5('newpassword'), m_password_compatibility_scheme='md5', m_pass_salt='' WHERE id=2;
