I have a PHPBB3 here P?? • Index page It is an old back up, I did not back the most current one when I installed OcPortal , not everything is as it was but the database and attachments are there. I noticed that ocPortal will only import data from PHPBB2 and a separate importer will handle the attachments. I only want to import from the PHPBB3 database and attachments into OcPortal.

Chris anyway of doing this?
I offer this PHPBB3 testing bed if needed.
Thanks

They show up as .dat files. .dat isn't a graphics format.

Yes,

I understand that, but thats how PHPBB3 saves the attachments, I was wondering this same thing.. how OCP was gonna handle this with the OCP importer, when I was running the importer. You can view the same forum here using PHPBB3 http://proteamclan.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=193

Even if the file has an image extension and is an image

like here View topic: Modern Warfare 2 - PROTEAMCLAN it won't show.

Question is also, did OCP move the files somewhere or are they still in the PHPBB3 location (I assume no move) and only the links changed?

I apologise, I assumed you had uploaded them yourself. In that case, I think this is one for Chris to answer.

Could you send a copy of your SQL dump to me at chris@ocportal.com, along with some of the phpBB attachment files?
I can see where the problem lies, we're not handing phpBB attachments properly at all.

Yes of course, I'll sent the whole database over, I'll also send the admin log in pass just in case you need it. You can use this to log in to the PHPBB3 site, and I'll also sent you the FTP information. No worries about the site getting hosed, do your thing.. I have to do this later this evening my time around 6pm PST. Thank you for undertaking this, I see now the commitment you have to OCP. Please accept my apologies for the past err posts.

Thanks. I'm working on this now. I've done a test import and I'm seeing a few issues, so I'm trying to sort them all out together.

Thank you, I am sure your hard work will be appreciated by many future ex-PHPBB3 users. An advance PHPBB3 importer for OCP that noone else has! woot. that I am sure to recommend to everyone I know. The internet community as a whole when they take notice of the many advance technologies OCP has to offer will begin to switch over to using your hard work .  Be ready for all walks of life asking newbie questions, when this really truly becomes mainstream.
Boy, I can't wait for this to happen, but it will.
Thanks again.

Thanks for your patience. I have fixes for all the problems I found attached. Unfortunately it does require a reinstall (or install of backup from prior to the import), so that you can re-import.

I understand Chris that the next OCP verison/update will fix some errors that I have been reporting, but I never seen this error before is this new? I must ask what version of mysql is everyone using? When OCP was installing I chose mysqli, anyone use the traditional one? I got this error first thing right after I logged in right after the install.

EDITED AND ADDED!!!

As you all can see I needed to deleted the install file, sorry!!!

My apologies for back to back posts I want to convey the flow of the import I'll edit this same post with updates, please bear with me.

An error at the end of importing Members

EDITED AND ADDED
I am starting over reinstalling OCP there seems to be an issue.
That issue is me… I forgot to guess what?

Apply the fixes.. so so so so sorry Chris.

EDITED AND ADDED
My apologies.
Reinstalled OCP and applied the fixes this time before running the phpbb3 importer, no errors were displayed everything seems to have gone without a hitch except for the following screens, no image is displayed and when the .JPG file is clicked it gives and error..

New is that the .dat files has been converted/renamed to have an extension of an .JPG

Can all image files be displayed as a viewable image on the thread it was created/uploaded?
Is it safe to deleted the PHPBB3 forum?
Thanks Chris and my apologies on the errors I have made.

We'll get rid of that JS error, I know why that happened, it's related to the other error you see (which is obviously an accurate one).

As for the attachment issue…
Is there anything named like the reference file in your uploads/attachments folder? Is there much there at all?

ocPortal tries to move the files out from phpBB, but it does it without displaying errors. It may just that the path given to import from didn't include them and you need to move them manually.

If the image is there, ocPortal should start displaying thumbnails.

I checked if the file attachments were move when I importer was finished, seem nothing was moved.
Also when the image attachment is clicked, the following page displays an error with a totally different
File name as you can see from the attachment I uploaded here. I manually added  all the .dat files to the upload location and I also renamed some files to what
The current file name FILENAME.JPG and what the error page stats as the file name these two things did not work.

I'm confused. The filename stated on the topic is the original name, not what is stored on disk. It's just for the benefit of the user.
Also, why add '.dat'? It should be just exactly the same naming phpBB has.
