Fan in training

I tell you this one has me really scratching my head. I've got a membership list I'm trying to import into ocportal. I am fairly sure it's formatted and headed correctly. I go to upload it to my site and everything checks out I get a upload successful report from OCPortal only.

When I go to my membership list nothing has changed, I've tried and tried and tried and I'm at the ok so what the hell am I missing stage.

Can you attach a sample CSV that did not import please?

The import is designed to be fairly flexible, but a good way to check a known working import format is to do an export and compare the format of that.

Also make sure you really are importing a CSV file. Often software will default to saving CSV files with tab delimiters, which are actually TSV files not CSV files.

I get a upload successful report from OCPortal only

This doesn't sound right because ocPortal reports how many members are imported, so you'd have seen zero if it failed.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
