Hi,

I'm using the "ocportal site merger" to import an ocportal installation to another installation. Everything is working great…except that it only imports changes that are several days old, ignoring major changes from the last couple of days. I imported everything. Why is this happening and how can I go about fixing it? :)

That sounds like it is either timing out (seems unlikely), or that you imported an old database backup by mistake. What kind of content was not fully imported?

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

The things that aren't getting imported are:

Forums and posts (along with associated users) which were themselves imported from phpbb3 successfully and then added onto

Most recent versions of CEDI tree and the content in it

Changes to the front page and the sidebars on all pages

Things that ARE getting imported are:

Assorted things like newsposts and various "testing" uploads/posts/etc in downloads section

I figured it was something of the kind, but I just gave it the database user and password and it worked fine - is there something I need to do to specifically tell it to grab the current version?

Thanks for your help.

Difficult to debug in a forum topic, if you'd like a member of staff to take a look please open a bug report ticket with any necessary access details, or even better mail a copy of the SQL dump to chris@ocportal.com with a specific example of something not importing.
