Image Icon in WYSIWYG has vanished

I am typing this into a WYSIWYG editor. Just above is the Image icon that allows me to insert an image. This same image icon has vanished from my own WYSIWYG editor. Everything else here seems to be present there. I have the latest version - and I used that same Image icon to insert an image on that site just a few days ago. The image icon is there on my other OcPortal sites.

What can I do to get it back on the site on which it's missing?

Hi,

Basically the image button only shows for staff. This is because we generally want to show a simpler editor to regular users.

If you want to change it you can customise the WYSIWYG_SETTINGS template. For example, changing the second line of that template to var precision_editing=true; would make it the same for everybody.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Oh and if you are still testing as staff, it is possible something knocked the template's staff detector off. It's usually pretty robust though.
