Where do all the old members go when their membership is deleted.

Last night I went to add the Point Leader Block and by default it shows the top five point leaders. I noted that at the was one of my "helper" members and I thought I don't need 'him' any more so I deleted him as a member then went back to re-install the Block and it shows up showing four entries.

Then when I click on the more link it shows the top point leader as: UNKNOWN with 10,041 points and a blank where the rank icons would go. See it here.

There must be some way to delete more fully a member. I want to remove all trace of the 'helper' member. Does anyone know how to delete all the associated data or if this is a bug.

I am no expert, but a dirty way of doing this.

I would try to delete user unknown in the database searching for the points that match unknown and deleted the whole row, but wait until someone else teaches us how.

For the leaderboard, I think it will correct itself when the new week has arrived. I  could be wrong,  tho.

It won't matter. It sticks until the next week when it updates. I recall having this same issue. But when the next week came by, the deleted member was also deleted from the leaderboard.

Edit: I don't think it's a bug, but it was a nuissance.

Eric's right. If you really wanted to you could fiddle in the DB and delete rows in a table (probably called something like 'leader_board').

Generally in ocPortal when a member goes, associated content is not altered - it just starts reference something ocPortal will have to call 'Unknown'.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Chris,
Maybe an option to keep associated content or delete all content and/or what content for user getting removed by admin. I have used this in PHPBB3.

Yes that is a good idea.

I just noticed this morning that the member UNKNOWN has vanished on the leader board. This is about 12 days later - this is the first time I noticed 5 actual members showing up on the points leader board.

NOTE TO THIS: the previous weeks leader board does show it so I guess it goes that way as weeks are added to the display. See the display
