Hi, I read the tutorial on setting up a user-group subscription through PayPal. But there's no place to enter my Paypal account information. I'm just not getting what exactly I have to do to hook OcPortal into Paypal for paid subscriptions. The tutorial just says to create the subscription product in the E-Commerce area of OcPortal. I can't find any information about how to connect it to my specific PayPal account. Any help will be greatly appreciated…:$

Thanks for the question/feedback.

To find the settings:
  • Go to the Admin Zone
  • Go to the Setup section
  • Go to the Configuration icon
  • Choose the Feature Options link
  • You'll find a box of options in here

To create a usergroup:
  • Go to the Admin Zone
  • Go to the Security section
  • Go to the Usergroups icon
  • (rest should be obvious)

To create the subscription product:
  • Go to the Admin Zone
  • Go to the Setup section
  • Go to the eCommerce icon
  • Go to the 'Add usergroup subscription' icon

You'll also want to configure some permissions for your usergroup. You probably want to do this in the 'Permission Tree Editor'. This is found under the 'Security' section of the Admin Zone.

(We'll get that tutorial improved.)

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
