Are you trying to allow member's to upload an image and have that image shown on their profile pages?

(If so, there's no direct way to do this, but you can allow them to add their own personal galleries).

  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Yes Chris, thanks for your quick reply. Thats what im talking about. I would like to let my member to upload their photo to me to do them a caricature art. So in their upload page would page upload feature + a short description about the photo they upload.

So I have to setup a gallery for each of my members?

Well, when you say photo I immediately think of the photo feature (each profile may have one photo), but this doesn't have a description ability.

You don't need to set up any galleries. You just need to enabled personal galleries, and make sure members have an add-image link (you could put that on the Personal Zone menu) and they'll be autocreated on-demand. Search around here for personal galleries :).

Off-the-top-of-my-head:
  • Members will need access to the CMS zone
  • Members will need to have the 'Have personal categories' submission permission
  • Members will need mid-level submission permission
  • Either of the above two permissions may be set using the Permission Tree editor upon the galleries module, or may be set globally – it's your choice.
  • A gallery must be configured to hold the personal galleries. Easiest way is to edit the root gallery, there's an option to tick.
  • If a member goes to add an image (page link is cms:cms_galleries:ad) they'll see the option for their personal gallery to be auto-created within the list of galleries that they can submit to.

This is cool, chris. I just setup as ur points suggested and now it looks good. And now my question is how to let my member view their own gallery from the left side menu once logged in?(not others member gallery coz i need to keep their uploaded photo some privacy)

I had tried add a node named "My Gallery" from site:galleries but that one showing member the "all member" galleries. Is there anyway i can do that?

Thanks for your help again!

Hi,

Try site:galleries:misc:member_{$USER}_mygallery

(that assumes your gallery container was called 'mygallery')
