Fan in training

I am a newbie to OCPORTAL and have been using DotnetNuke. I have the following questions

1. I wish to put news, events and announce in a tab panel on the front page and I have been struggling 4 the past weeks and can't find my way. A good xmple is the one with the editor zone (Preview, Edit, Settings) panel.

2. I also wish to have the search functionality for everyone on the Header rather than only the admin.

3. When I use the Add New Page to add a new page, under themes manager, it gives me an error ( a blank page which says it cannot display the webpage) once I am asked to proceed after entering (step 2 of 3)

Otherwise I really like the OCPORTAL, it promises to offer me limitless design adventures

I have installed apache 1.1 on a Vista OS and have PHP 5+
Thank you

1/2 - These can be done with the right template editing. I can only step through myself under our commercial support, but maybe someone else here knows how to do it.

3 - If you turn off the IE option described here:
HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error for Internet Explorer
Does it show you something more meaningful?
I wasn't aware IE hid true errors like this, so we'll do something about that in the next patch release.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Hi masido2009

Hava peak here as this tutorial might do what you are looking for with regards to your first query: - View topic: [Community Tutorial] Using custom comcode for a tabbed box

I have also done your second question, however, as mentioned by Chris, it involves some template changes which I'll try to track down and post back this weekend.
