Hi All,

Is it possible to only show validated entries in the side_rss block.

The parameters I currently have are:

http://mysite.tld/backend.php?type=atom&mode=downloads&days=60&max=100

Is it possible to include only validated entries here?

Thanks
TQ

This would normally be the state of affairs. I suspect you've given "See links to non-validated content" to guests? ocPortal would load the RSS feed as a guest user so see whatever Guest could access.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Hi Chris,

'See links to non-validated content' is checked for no-one ie they are all unchecked.

If you click the link in the RSS is does give the correct result ie "username" does not have the privilege, 'See non-validated content, if directed to it' but I don't want the item to be listed in the RSS until I have validated it.

Any other thoughts?

TQ

Quick question, you don't have the backdoor_ip line set in info.php, with the IP of the server do you?

It doesn't seem likely, but just checking.

No, that line doesn't exist in my info.php

Oh, I didn't read your initial post carefully enough, missed downloads. Specific bug. Fix coming.

Spoke to soon or should I say, it did work after the fix (#1916) and now it doesn't again. Can't say for sure but it maybe since #2017.

It also applies to the atom feed ie non-validated items are displayed.

I'm so far behind validating downloads (about 90 as we speak) that it makes a mockery of the lists on my site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TQ

Are you certain?

All seems 100% fine to me. I confirmed it working correctly right through, and that the fix was still there.

Possibilities:
  • Caching. You unvalidated something, and main_rss had to wait 60 minutes to refresh.
  • You looked at the RSS feed rather than the site's display of it. If you opened the RSS direct in your browser it would render using your credentials. If done via main_rss it would render as Guest, as the call comes through from the server which is not itself logged in as a user.
  • You mistook the out-moded message for those USB drivers as the not-validated message
