How can I delete default avatar images I don't want available for use? I see the avatars in in"Manage Themes" but no way to delete them. Do I just delete them on the file system?

And the opposite, can I add a new theme set of avatars by adding them to folders in /themes/default/images/ocf_default_avatars  or /themes/default/images/ocf_default_avatars/default_set?

Thanks far any help.

  • Do I just delete them on the file system?
That's the way I've done it in the past (but see below)

  • can I add a new theme set of avatars
Best to add it to /themes/yourtheme/images/ocf_default_avatars which will override the default set - OR - put the new avatars in a newly-named folder (still in your own theme) and ocP will 'find' them when you want to use them.

Same applies to 'deleting' avatars. Select the ones you want to dispose of and add the folder to your own theme.

Hope that made sense!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Also I'll note the avatars are included as bundled into an addon if you wanted to get rid of them by removing the associated addon.

Thanks, Chris.

If I remove the add-on, does it also remove the "Edit avatar" link? I want the link to remain as I plan on adding new avatars more related to the site.

There is ocf_avatars as an addon, but the actual avatars are in: ocf_thematic_avatars, ocf_cartoon_avatars.

Well, I long ago removed the ocp_fanatic avatar and have cleared my cash countless times since.

I just got the following when viewing a ticket in the support forum area:

Code

An image code (ocf_default_avatars/default_set/ocp_fanatic) was referenced that does not exist

Is this hardcoded in somewhere?

This is used by the system posts I think.

Hmmm….I guess that means I need to keep it or at least have something with that name.

Can I change the avatar used by system posts if I install the Debrand add-on?

You don't need to de-brand, just change the theme image for ocf_default_avatars/default_set/ocp_fanatic.

That's what I did for my site.
