Hello,

Your insight is greatly appreciated
with gaining access to the database.

I've uploaded the two files to my server
into a subfolder. Now when I enter the
sub-domain name to access it, I get this
message:

What is it that I need to do to reach the
page to login? There aren't files to insert
my login info.

Error 403 - Forbidden

You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges.

Thank you for your help,
CF

Thanks SunlightShadow!

It would have been better to have
uploaded the files manually rather
than the "quick" way?

Then from there follow the steps
to change the permission?

Thanks,
CF-

;) I think it depends on your server konfiguration, i got the same problem by a freewebspace provider where i uploaded the files by the quick way.

The problem was i couldn't change the permissions anymore because the executed script from the webinstaller was in an other usergroup and had other permissions than me. :(

On my paid webspace, was the userfriendly installer no problem.

Hum….

I'll just remove the two files and take
it old school and make it work that
way.

I tried the first way to allow them to
access to my server and it couldn't
locate it, then I decided on door #2
and now I'll move on to door #3… ;o)

It's okay… Learning is a gift.

Thank you so much for your inight!

Won't Be Denied,
CF

Hi,

To change a permission, you basically:
  1. browse to the file/folder in your FTP software
  2. right-click it
  3. choose something from the action list (maybe 'properties', maybe 'permissions' - it depends on the FTP software you use)
  4. you'll see there's a set of 3 different kind of write permission, just tick them all.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Its posible that you have your server set up to not show folder index's. Which is how mine is set up so you could do this.

Type your subfolder and after it this /install.php.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

We can say this post is RESOLVED!
Chris was able to direct in the
right direction and from there
it was uploaded to the server.

YES!

Of course I'll have a boat load
question now, right?

Continue to make it happen!

Thanks,
