Well-settled

I'm experimenting with OC Portal v3.2.10. So far I find the program one of the best I've seen, but also relatively complex to administer due to the bewildering variety of settable features and integration of coding, which is way over my head at this stage of the learning curve.

My question is…how is it possible to create a list field when creating a custom profile field? I followed the directions specified by the tutorial "Item|Item" (also tried "|Item|Item|" as in screenshot and that did not work either) and rather than providing a list, it displays a text box. What would be ideal would be a drop list of inserted items for the user to choose from. Also, when testing with a registered user, even though the field was "required", the user was able to bypass it by proceeding past the error message.

Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Screenshot if it helps….

Hi Highspeedlane! Welcome aboard and I'm sure that once you get some familiarity with OCP under your belt, you will find it to be the most powerful and flexible web dev/CMS on the 'net!

First off, I would recommend that you begin your testing/experimenting with ocPortal V4, which is rapidly closing in on release, instead of V3. Having said that, I took a look at the custom profile fields and noticed that your screenshot is lacking one crucial field (Type) and that is prolly the culprit. Here are some screenshots from my one V3 site:

Thank you, that was exactly what I was missing.

Thanks for the advice re: testing v4 too. This is certainly an impressive program, now I just need to figure out all the configuration options.
