Sounds to me like either something has happened to your MySQL server or your config is not set up correctly. If your DB appears to be fine when viewing otherwise then look in info.php and make sure your settings are correct.

The MySQL server has gone away error is caused when ocPortal cannot locate the MySQL database. This usually happens if the database is overloaded or corrupt.

It's most likely an issue that you need to take up with your web host.
