oc portal upgrader error

this is the error any one can help me plese do so by helping me on this topic  error is below

ocPortal upgrader

This is the ocPortal upgrade tool. This tool is a part of ocPortal, but it is intentionally kept lightweight to keep it working even if ocPortal is partly broken.

Critical error – bailing out

Cannot write to /home/ntchoot/public_html/uploads/iotds/_vti_cnf. File permissions for it (or the directory it is in) have not been set correctly.

Integrity check

If you think this problem could be due to corruption caused by a failed upgrade (e.g. time-out during extraction), check the following integrity check…

These files are actually missing and need uploading (you can find them in the manual installer ZIP for the version you're running):

  • facebook_connect.php

Details here are intended only for the website/system-administrator, not for regular website users.
» If you are a regular website user, please let the website staff deal with this problem.

Depending on the error, and only if the website installation finished, you may need to edit the installation options (the info.php file).

ocProducts maintains full documentation for all procedures and tools. These may be found on the ocPortal website. If you are unable to easily solve this problem, we may be contacted from our website and can help resolve it for you.

ocPortal is a CMS for building websites, developed by ocProducts.

When/where does this happen exactly? e.g. as soon as you call up upgrader.php, as soon as you login, when a specific button is clicked?

Thanks

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

This is tricky to work out, but I think I have it.

I think the following sequence of events happened:
  • Installed ocPortal
  • Uninstalled IOTDs (e.g. in Setup Wizard, or manually)
  • Extracted ocPortal files back out again at some point (e.g. trying to upgrade manually)
  • IOTDs tried to reinstall, as upgrader noticed the module file was there but not installed
  • Frontpage Extension files have appeared in the uploads/iotds folder (maybe your server builds them automatically), and ocPortal can't write to them, so it fails when trying to reinstall IOTDs…
  • because part of that process is clearing out it's data directory

You shouldn't really have to extract ocPortal files out manually, the upgrader can do that for you and know which addons aren't there and thus which files to skip.

I would suggest deleting site/pages/modules/iotds.php now, as that will stop the upgrader trying to reinstall it.

(We'll stop ocPortal choking on non-writable files when reinstalling modules. But that'll be for future versions.)
