I've looked at the Facebook options, created an app on Facebook, gotten the API code, the secret key, my user id, and the id of the page to which I want news posted, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there something I need to do with the Facebook app to get it to post to the page wall? Also, is there any integration with Twitter to post news announcements to Twitter whenever they appear on the site (ie, posting the first 140ish characters with a link like "Something really neat just happened on the site…See http://bit.ly/PgCode") |

Do you just include the RSS feed name in the Facebook Notes app? Do the posts from the RSS feed appear on the user's wall? Thanks for your help. Bob |

Personally I think that is a much more stable solution. We do it for the ocPortal Facebook page effectively. I tried using feed://www.xxxxxxxx.com/backend.php?type=RSS2&mode=news&days =30&max=100 but that does not seem to be the magical key. Anyone knows how to do this? Thanks for your help. Bob |

Yes, I was all over that thread but it was an entirely different context - that is, it was about getting the Facebook add-on to work. I could not make it work satisfactorily (it kept logging users out of their Facebook account), so I chose not to use it and risk the wrath of my users. I want to publish three different feeds to Facebook including a forum feed. I tried using the RSS feed and it did not work - I just copied and pasted the URL. It seems you got it to work with an Atom feed. I'll play around some more and hopefully will get it sorted. I noticed that Twitterfeed has the ability to also post to Facebook so I may just go with that approach. I just need to find out what my bit.ly API Username is - I've got my API key - and then I could maybe sort both Facebook and Twitter at once. Bob |

I really wanted to use the Facebook add-on too. But I'd rather have something that works consistently than have my users going through hell due to its implementation. I think ocPortal will probably get this sorted when they fully-integrate Facebook and Twitter support sometime in the far off future. Of course, the Facebook will keep playing with their APIs and frustrating everyone. Bob |

I am still working on the Facebook posts. I can use Twitterfeed but my post will be limited to 140 characters. I'd prefer that they post with more of the message. I can get the Notes app working using the just the domain name which puts my blog posts up but I haven't been able to figure out how to post my three other feeds (galleries, catalogs, forums). I am sure I am missing something obvious. Oh well, back to work. Bob |

That ends that mystery. I can use Twitterfeed to import other feeds but I suspect it will shorten the entries to 140 characters. I am going to take a look at Feedburner and see if it will leave posts mostly intact. Glad I finally at least realized I was beating a dead horse. Bob |
