Any tips on adding this button? I mostly just want it for the "Follow us" block in the left panel but If anyone has also added it to the MAIN_SCREEN ACTION block, I'd be interested in that as well.

Thanks for any help.

I haven't tried it, but it looks simple enough: How to Add Google +1 Button to Your Site .

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

Those instructions worked but I could not choose the button format I preferred.

There are instructions for adding the +1 button at Google Webmaster Tools but they seem much more convoluted than in the article
plusone-button

I am unclear where this bit goes:

Code

<!-- Place this render call where appropriate -->
<script type="text/javascript">
  (function() {
    var po = document.createElement('script'); po.type = 'text/javascript'; po.async = true;
    po.src = 'https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js';
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s);
  })();
</script>

And then there is the whole Customize +Snippet stuff seems like it would give me a chance to personalize my code if only I could figure it out.

For instance, are the suggesting that this
<html itemscope itemtype="schema.org - Home">

needs to be added to the existing tag (looks like the Facebook stuff is a remnant of my unsuccessful attempt at using theFacebook add-on):

Code

<html id="main_website_html" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml" xml:lang="EN" lang="EN" dir="ltr">

I understand that the other three tags need to go into HEADER.tpl:

Code

<html id="main_website_html" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml" xml:lang="EN" lang="EN" dir="ltr">

Oh well, I'll fiddle with it for a bit and see if I can't get it working.

Thanks for your help.

So you place this bit where you wanted the button to appear:

Code

<!-- Place this tag where you want the +1 button to render -->
<g:plusone annotation="none"></g:plusone>

Did you place the following in HEADER.tpl?

Code

<!-- Place this render call where appropriate -->
<script type="text/javascript">
  (function() {
    var po = document.createElement('script'); po.type = 'text/javascript'; po.async = true;
    po.src = 'https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js';
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s);
  })();
</script>

Also, did you use the following code to personalize your +1 button?

Code

<!-- Update your html tag to include the itemscope and itemtype attributes -->
<html itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/">

<!-- Add the following three tags inside head -->
<meta itemprop="name" content="Title of your content">
<meta itemprop="description" content="This would be a description of the content your users are sharing">

Thanks for your help.

Hi BobS,

nope I used the code who was presented on the plus1 page itself.

It used a small piece of code to the header.tpl

After that I used the

Code

<g:plusone annotation="none"></g:plusone>
in the comcode page where I wanted it.  Its the most easy way.  I have no personalize my button.

Thanks Harry-S.

I just use the basics and see if I can figure out the personalization stuff later.

Thanks for your help.

I know the following code allows for the +1 button to be personalized. I understand the part about adding the three (2 shown) items to the header but am not quite clear on the html tag. Do I just add the highlighted bits to my html tags and will it cause any conflict with what is already there?

From Google =1 instructions said

<!– Update your html tag to include the itemscope and itemtype attributes –>
<html itemscope itemtype="schema.org - Home">

<!– Add the following three tags inside head –>
<meta itemprop="name" content="Title of your content">
<meta itemprop="description" content="This would be a description of the content your users are sharing">

Thanks for any help.
