A few months back I turned over one of the many OCP sites that I manage to the actual owner (just got too busy to do them all!).

He was learning OCP but yesterday just emailed me and said that he "killed" the site.  I took a look and sure enough he did:

Critical error – bailing out

This is an error that has been elevated to critical error status because it occurred during the primary error mechanism reporting system itself (possibly due to it occuring within the standard output framework). It may be masking a secondary error that occurred before this, but was never output - if so, it is likely strongly related to this one, thus fixing this will fix the other.
Query failed: SELECT c.the_name,c.config_value,c.the_type,c.c_set,t.text_original AS config_value_translated FROM ocp_config c LEFT JOIN ocp_translate t ON ( AND t.language='EN' AND (c.the_type='transtext' OR c.the_type='transline')) : Table './mcrca_mcrc/ocp_translate' is marked as crashed and should be repaired (version: 8.1.11, PHP version: 5.6.30, URL: /adminzone/index.php?page=start)
Details here are intended only for the website/system-administrator, not for regular website users.

I looked at his cpanel and he has no backups enable and when I add the "adminzone/index.php?page=start" to the site's URL to attempt to get into the admin zone, I get the same error.

If the site is truly dead, I'll let him know but I promised that I would post here to see if anyone had any suggestions?

Many thanks,

  • If so, please let others know about Composr whenever you see the opportunity or support me on Patreon.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying Composr on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks very much Chris.  Unfortunately that's beyond my ability and/or comfort level.  I will advise the site owner that it's irreparably damaged and that he is out of luck.
