For some reason, which is beyond me, I am unable to figure out  where to edit the following, that the guest are seeing.

We hope you enjoy your visit here. See below for news and information on our hosted downloads, and please join or login if you have joined before.

Where do you change this or the file that it is in?

You can also check out Adminzone > Setup > Configuration > Site > Main Greeting or something like that.

Or you can just edit your front page to replace the [ block ]main_greeting[ /block ] with whatever text you'd like.

I only receive the message before logging in, or view as a guest. Once logged in, it goes away.
I did change the main greeting during setup.
Can you put what ever text you want between the block tags and if so do you have to have the underslash?

The text between the block tags is the name of the block to use, so you should open up /sources/blocks/main_greeting.php and see what's there, and what it uses to create the messages.

I guess that I should state that I am relatively new to PHP. I am use to Perl.

I am still not seeing it. Guess that it is time for me to go and get a book about PHP....and do some learning.

Those are the codenames of the two language strings which control what that block displays. You can edit them in the admin zone. ;)

If I understand you correctly, what you want can be done, probably the easiest, by clicking the "edit page" link at the bottom-middle of your front page. Delete the [block]main_greeting[/block] section and replace it with whatever you'd like.

I got it done. What I was looking for was in the global.ini file.

Thanks
