Hi, I'm tidying up my errors from my OCportal site's Google Webmaster Tools dashboard.

The URL errors are maybe pages being there which might as it stands be invalid due to me not having installed OCportal Forum. I was hesitant to delete the error pages from my home directory incase it messed with own my logging on as admin. I know the OCF isnt there but I do still have to login as admin myself and don't want to take anything out that might damage that. The response code 500 pages I was considering deleting are:

index.php?page=join&type=misc
site/index.php?page=onlinemembers
site/index.php?page=members&type=misc
site/index.php?page=groups&type=misc

Are these access denied 403 pages just quite normal or again are these pages defunct due to not installing OCF?:

site/index.php?page=awards&type=overview
index.php?page=lostpassword&type=misc

Access denied 401 page:

cms/index.php?page=cms
(is this just due to it being CMS so i should just mark this as fixed?)

thanks

People take too much stock in these 'errors'. They don't mean you are getting a penalty, it is simply telling you why Google can't access them. The language used to explain this kind of stuff can often be unclear, as it is simplified for different levels of audience comprehension – if people talk about it hurting SEO, they mean in the sense that Google can't index these pages, but in these cases it really shouldn't be able to. Sometimes SEO people do like a "Chinese whispers" thing, so the aforementioned turns into "this is why you're not top of Google" after a few leaps between people.

Regardless, we'll tweak our code a little bit to exclude them from the XML sitemap if OCF is not in use.

I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
