Is it possible to make a global replacement through all catalogues on the site? There was a mistype error that has been reproduced through all catalogue records involving certain verbage. Particulary, we are talking about Diablo II items descriptions (in the mod) and they contain various strings describing "on strike" feature. They look like: "5% cast lvl 40 Psychic Hammer on striking" or "2% cast lvl 80 Bone Spear on striking" and so on. There is a nasty bug has occured during the automated catalogue filling and "…on striking" now displays as "…on stricking". I'd like to replace "on stricking" by "on striking" through all catalogues where this subsrting is met. But I don't know how :) It could be done with a tricky SQL request I guess but as OcCLE exists probably it could be done with it?

Hi,

You'd have to do in MySQL:
MySQL :: MySQL 5.0 Reference Manual :: 11.5 String Functions

I'd also be extremely careful using that, as a small mistake could wipe your DB.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I know :) It involves regexps and I am not very familiar with them. Probably will ask our techs to do that :)

Thank you, will try to do it very carefully
