I have been expanding my galleries and I just noticed an odd thing about one gallery - and only odd in one gallery. I am getting an extra box with info (Titled 'Pen and Ink' which is the name of the gallery) about me showing up to the left of the Normal Detail Box You can see a screen shot of the normal page on the right side by side with the odd gallery page on the left if you want to visit the pages of the odd gallery you will see the difference on all three IMAGE pages as well as the THUMBNAIL page and then any of the other galleries on the site you visit will not show the extra box in them.

I have no idea why it happened? Any clue. I haven't tried to delete the gallery and recreate it yet, I though I would report it first. I am running 8.1

Will look into for you soon, I'm pretty behind on getting back to people at the moment.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Sorry for the delay here.

This is actually normal. This happens for a member gallery. You probably set the parent of this gallery as "Personal category container", and then submitted under it, which would have auto-created your personal gallery there.

You'll see the gallery name matches a pattern, and includes your member ID in it. If you want rid of the member box, renaming the gallery to break that pattern should do it.

Didn't check the "Personal category container " box. Why would it assume it is a member gallery. I added all the other galleries with the same login info. Don't understand.

Something has changed. I added all galleries under 'Dave' admin and I get the extra box showing up 'Dave' and there was no "Personal category container " box checked.

So I changed my login to admin and I still get the extra box showing up 'admin' and there was no "Personal category container " box checked.

So I really don't understand why all the other galleries added previously (most if not all other galleries before version 8.*) don't show these extra boxes with 'Dave' or 'Admin' in them - so in my mind it is not at all 'normal'. Something has changed or is different because my process in adding the galleries is the same.

This issue has been filed on the tracker as issue #586, with a fix.

The fix did not resolve my issue. still appears the same.

I am still running 8.01 if that makes a difference - I will upgrade to 8.1 to see if that makes a difference.

I actually re-tested and I found the hotfix introduced a new bug, but not the one reported. The key problem was fixed.

8.1.1 will be released soon with all fixes.
