I don't know what the problem is - someone added a video to my site and came to me telling me it doesn't show up. The movie file does exist, I've checked.

Las Venturas Roleplay/Cops/Robbers - LVRCR (not sure if you can see this or not)

Hmm. Doesn't work for me or the submitter, but it does for all others. Perhaps it's just a plugin I need…

It loaded for me after I waited about two minutes. This is normal behavior while Windows Media files are loading. See if it loads for you after a while, or if you get some kind of error message.

Do you even see the interface for Windows Media player in there, such as the play buttons, etc?

Are there any errors under Opera?

Also, how long did you wait? If you have fair to slow internet it could take many minutes as it did for me.

But I don't see any buttons at all… sorry..

But also no error messages. Only a basic webscreen with a thumbnail.

Hm. This might be caused by a firewall or similar program attempting to strip out spyware. You might also try loading it with Internet Explorer, to see if it is a problem with Opera or not.

Great. Poke round Opera's settings and see if there is something which might be filtering the video out.

I have no problems to view video's on other sites, like my own. if they are linked or embedded.
With my version of opera.

see one of the sites screenshot

Right - that's because YouTube embeds videos using flash player: a trend that is becoming much more popular since, as you've noticed, it is much more compatible, and, in many cases, faster to load.

I have checked out all the settings of Opera, but can't find anything that filter something out.

So why its not working, I don't know.  :(

Perhaps the plug-in is not installed. I would have thought that would happen automatically, but here are instructions that may help your situation.

I see what Harry posted in his first post, except I have some line breaking in the page. I don't see the player, it's just blank, but it does look like SOMETHING is there because of the line breaks…

Aha! So it is a plugin…

Usually Firefox tells you that you need to install a plugin though. :/

If anyone is having the same problem and uses Firefox, download & install this plugin:

Download the Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin - Port 25: The Open Source Community at Microsoft

Worked for me. :)

Thanks all for your help!
