Hi, I had a problem with an upgrade my host had done to my apache server. Long story short, no photos display anymore. My host is telling me that if I copy all files to an "upload2" folder as apposed to "uploads" it should work while they work to resolve the original problem.

My question is: Where in the (Ocportal) script do I need to make changes so it knows to look for /uploads2/gallery… instead of /uploads/gallery…

There's no simple change, as the path is hard coded in many places. I'd be interested to know the rationale for the change and/or error messages you're receiving.

Well, it is a suggestion from my host. Back in April they did some sort of an upgrade to the server, presumably to allow a user to "re-set ownership" of certain files from Apache to the user's ownership. When they did this all photos, were no longer displayed.

For the most part, Ocportal does not produce any error. Just when you open a gallery there is nothing in it. The only time I get an error is if I try to add a photo. After uploading the photo, I get this stack trace.

Code

PHP WARNING [2] move_uploaded_file(/public_html/uploads/galleries/100_1860.JPG) [<a href='function.move-uploaded-file'>function.move-uploaded-file</a>]: failed to open stream: Permission denied (ocPortal version: 3.2.1, PHP version: 5.2.1, URL: /cms/pg/cms_galleries/_ad/index.php&uploading=1)

[title="2"]Here is the stack trace:[/title]Below is a stack trace revealing the state ocPortal was in when the error occurred. If this represents a bug in ocPortal's unmodified software, you may want to check ocportal.com for a fix, and if there isn't one, report this as a bug. Please note that merely posting a stack trace is not sufficient for us to solve your problem; the stack trace is just an aid that presents us with additional information. We still need to know the error message, the human situation, version numbers, and any other appropriate information.
We apologise for this problem and hope you will work with us so that we can fix it promptly.

Ah, I see. Load up force_upgrade.php (by URL), log in, and choose to "fix permissions".

Get this error when fixing or checking permissions.

Depending on the error, you may need to edit the base configuration (the info.php file).

ocProducts maintains full documentation for all procedures and tools. These may be found on the [url="../../../../../"]ocPortal website[/url]. If you are unable to easily solve this problem, we may be contacted from our website and can help resolve it for you.

ocPortal is a website engine created by ocProducts.

To be clear I will say that before 3.2.x I did not get this stack trace error when uploading, it would just tell me that the file was not found after the upload was complete. So I would upload a photo then it would immediately say http://domain.com/upload/gallery/photoid was not found.

When logging into the upgrader tool, give FTP details. This will allow it to perform the permission operations over FTP, which is necessary for your server.

I can not change the permissions manually for uploads either. My host must ahve done something when snooping around today. This is a scondary problem, as the permissions were not an issue a few days ago.

Here's an upgraded sources/upgrade.php, that is less error sensitive.

Attachment
» Download: upgrade.zip (7 Kb, 242 downloads so far)

Please try running it 1st without giving FTP details, then second with. Hopefully the effect of running both should sort the problem.

I uploaded the new file and ran the upgrader as you suggested.

That worked… sort of. A least now I'm not getting stack traces. When I run the check and fix it says the operation has completed. When I run the check only right after I get this list:

The following files have incorrect permissions:

  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/banners
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/downloads
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/galleries
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/watermarks
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/grepimages
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/galleries_thumbs
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/iotds
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/iotds_thumbs
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/catalogues
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/attachments
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/attachments_thumbs
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/auto_thumbs
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/ocf_avatars
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/ocf_photos
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/ocf_photos_thumbs
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/filedump
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/banners/CONTACT.GIF
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/banners/Header_Static1.jpg
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/banners/2CONTACTS.GIF
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/banners/Header_Static.jpg
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/banners/CONTACTS.GIF
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/galleries/100_1604.JPG
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/galleries/100_1247.JPG
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/galleries/100_0696.JPG
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/galleries/100_1645.JPG
  • File not writeable but should be: uploads/galleries/100_1426.JPG
The list goes on and on, with everything in my /uploads Folder. As I said I think this is a secondary problem, because all permissions were fine a couple days ago. But the original problem persists since April.

Furthermore, I do not get a stack trace when uploading a photo anymore. The screen goes white, and stops.

You could chmod all those to 777.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

This is weird. It's as if the files/directories are no longer owned by either the web server user, or your FTP user, leaving them kind of 'dead in the water'.
I'd like to have a look on your server to see if I can find a way around this.

If you'd like me to, please post a whisper / ticket, with FTP access details. Also please check our server access policy.

Hi Chris, thanks for all the help with this issue. I have given up on it, thanks to no help from my host. I'll be leaving them soon.

Anyway, I've decided to re-install ocportal and just import. But now when I try the import I get this error, regardless of what I try to import (merge) be it members, galleries, forums, etc.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 19456 bytes) in /public_html/sources/rss.php on line 186

Do I need to eliminate rss feeds? Seems unlikely?

Please rename recommended.htaccess to .htaccess, to raise the memory limit.

Thanks, but no luck with that either. I changed both the old and new installs from recommended.htaccess to .htaccess, and still get the error this time it is line 268 not 186.

Sorry, I should have read more carefully. Please edit the .htaccess file and raise the limit by changing line 24 to:

Code

php_value memory_limit "64M"

Certain areas of the system, particularly importing, can use quite a lot of memory at times.

Whoa, now this is getting weird. I made the changes to htaccess I no longer get a memory error. I get this when importing members:

You've been given some warnings. Continuing will ignore these warnings, and may result in problems.

If i click proceed I get this:

A critical parameter, importer, was missing.

Sure sounds like I'm being scolded.

Is it possible that you got the original memory error, changed the .htaccess file, then reloaded the page by pressing enter in the address toolbar?
If that's the case, you'll need to go back, and then click the button again :).

If not, then this is indeed pretty weird, and I'm not sure off-hand what could cause it.

I have closed the browser and re-opened, cleared the caches with the upgrader tool, everything I can think of.

even against my better judgment I tried, and got the same thing in IE.

Sorry: this is a bug in ocPortal, plain and simple.

Please try changing line 187 of sources/hooks/modules/admin_import/ocp_merge.php
from:

Code

         return do_template('CONFIRM_PAGE',array('TITLE'=>$title,'PREVIEW'=>do_lang_tempcode('IMPORT_WARNINGS_GIVEN'),'FIELDS'=>'','URL'=>get_self_url(false,false,array('happy'=>1))));
to:

Code

         return do_template('CONFIRM_PAGE',array('TITLE'=>$title,'PREVIEW'=>do_lang_tempcode('IMPORT_WARNINGS_GIVEN'),'FIELDS'=>build_keep_post_fields(),'URL'=>get_self_url(false,false,array('happy'=>1))));

However, depending on what the warnings were, there could be further problems.
