"Could not login to FTP Server..."

Hello, Chris: (BU**ER! STILL CANNOT USE THE ENTER KEY, WTF??) I am getting this error: "Could Not Log In To The FTP Server [Login Incorrect]" when I attempt to create a new theme to play with for CSS editing. Can't find anything in the documentation or the forums as to where the FTP login info is set post-installation. Could you please advise soonest? See this screenshot, although I doubt it is of any use whatsoever: http://www.screencast....0a-4b08-9ff6-999f0fc1f2ae Thanks, Hitch

I always ask myself: WWWWD?, or, "What Would Wonder Woman Do?"
How come we have Yahoo IM, AIM, ICQ, you name it, but no field for Skype contact info?

Hi,

Am I correct in that it didn't even ask you for those details? If you go back and try again it should have automatically forgotten any details that were stored (due to the error) and ask you for them again.

For the record the data is stored in the ocp4_values table, in various rows, but you shouldn't need to venture into there.

Nope, it never asked for the details. Both my biz partner and I have tried this several times to no avail, it's a "don't ask don't tell" script. I can edit ocp4_values table if needed O_o , (should have said, BUT I REALLY DON'T WANT TO) but isn't there a "normal" backend mechanism for providing this info?? P.S. - "return" still non compos mentis. - Hitch I should have added that we upgraded 4.0.3 to 4.1.6 today, everything looked good, but now are having this problem.

There isn't a normal mechanism. We actually prefer people not to save the passwords at all to be honest, as it's not a secure thing to do – we let people do it by clicking the save checkbox, but we don't want to encourage it by having a special section for it in the Admin Zone.

Obviously something is going wrong here though, it shouldn't just lock you out. I reviewed this recently and tested it, and changed it so it instantly request a new password if it fails (no clicking back) – it might be we haven't put out the changes into a patch release yet.

Try this query:

Code

DELETE FROM `ocp4_values` WHERE the_name LIKE 'ftp%'

Hi, Chris:

FYI, we "fixed" this by adding the FTP info into the ocp4_values table.  Don't know whither it went or why.

Hi,

I think I've worked out what happened. It is an obscure bug that affects certain servers in certain situations. It's rather complex to explain, but your workaround to it should work, and we'll also fix it in the next patch release.
