I have a question regarding voting on a forum topic with a poll.

If a standard user clicks "View result" without voting there is not any option to go back to vote. Is this a feature or a bug?

Repro steps:
  1. Create a topic with a poll and save it
  2. Login as a standard member
  3. Go to the topic
  4. There are button "Vote" and link "View results". DO NOT VOTE!
  5. Click on link "View results"
  6. Results are displayed
  7. But there is not any option to go back to voting, even view_poll_results param is set back to 0. An administrator account can set view_poll_results to 0 and see voting options again.

A feature, in fact I think it explicitly tells them this - or if not, it does in the development version (IIRC we did do some kind of usability change on it recently)

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I know that this has been the behavior for the regular poll feature. It's good to see it made consistent in the forum polls.
