Let's say that I would like to have forum displayed on homepage but without column Last Post. The column still need to be displayed in the core forum page.

I created redirection: Welcome/start -> Forums/forumview, but not sure what is the best way to hide Last Post if forum is displayed on homepage and show it in the core forum page.

I have two ways on my mind:
  1. Adding a condition in a template file
  2. Copying and editing forumview script
So, what do you advise? Or maybe there is something easier I'm not aware of?

Sounds like you are on the right track.  I'd say a condition in the template file.   I don't know if there is a global variable for templates that says which page you are on (or coming from).  So you might need to edit the forumview script to send that condition variable to the template.
