Okay, so maybe I'm upgrading too many versions or something… ;)

What I did was install a fresh copy, delete the new database tables, copy over the database tables from my current install (yeah, like I'd use my real ones O_o ) and ran force_upgrade.php

Attached is teh error message I got - something went very very wrong :(

Of course, refreshing the page makes the errors go away, but the upgrader thinks it's done. Unfortunately, I'm missing menus and all sorts of stuff.

I just reckon that once I get past the database upgrades, plonking in the pages will be a doddle.

Any ideas? I don't think it's getting much wrong as there's only errors with about three or four tables there, but that's causing some bother.

Try putting the first of each of the queries for the main types of error into phpMyAdmin as SQL commands and see what it comes up with. It should be possible to repair without too much trouble once mySQL is giving out the true errors (e.g. add a missing table field here, a missing table there, then pass all the queries back into phpMyAdmin).

Bizarrely, running those Inserts on their own seems to have worked. The field access_denied_counter was missing from the stats counter after that, and a few menu items aren't pointing to anything but they're easier to fix than no menu at all ;)

Cheers Chris!

No problem. What likely happened is some db schema changes were made only after rows that depended on those changes were inserted. That's the kind of thing that happens when we don't test all the different upgrade combinations.
