Tried to search the docs for this but it came up with lots of results, pages of results.
Any way I just saw it was on the main page of my admin zone but have no clue what it does or what it is for.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Ami,

I believe that is the text that is at the very bottom right of your site. I think the default is something like "Please donate to keep this site alive"

Oh I wonder if you need to take the default on off first.

Ami,

Not quite sure if I understand the question. I am trying to put the code that I used in this post but it keeps converting it to a hyperlink, I used the Code box thing and it still converts it to a hyperlink so I think there might be a bug on the site. I will send a personal message with the code and see if that works.

Ami,

I was going to post the code that I used in that setting, but this site keeps converting the code to a hyperlink so it will not work.

On the settings page just type something in the box, it can be anything. After saving you should find it on the bottom right of your site in the footer area.

Oh by the way you did answer my question in the first reply you made, I am thinking you thought you had not answered it but you did and thanks.

Ami,

Not sure if he will or not. I am not as well versed as you on OCP so maybe you can tell me if mine is a bug or not. My understanding is if you use the CODE button and enclose lets say a hyper link with it, it should not show a hyperlink in the final message but instead it should show the code for that link. If that is the way it is supposed to operate then there is a bug, if I am misunderstanding the code button then it may not be a bug.

Hi,

Ami - yes, this is a bug.

Rick - sorry, yours isn't. The 'code'/'codebox' Comcode tags are there to allow you to:
  • put code into posts without it being interpreted as Comcode
  • using a monospace font
  • in a neat box.
  • with syntax highlighting in some cases.
I've clarified the docs to reflect this.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Thanks for the clarification on the 'code'/'codebox'

I think that if it was not to difficult it would be nice to be able to post a full href line into the 'code'/'codebox' and have it left in tact rather then having the site convert it to a link. I was trying to show Ami what I had in my flagrant text setting and could not because the site kept converting it to a heyperlink.

Anyway it is no big deal but if it is easy and possible I think that would be advantageous. I think that anything put into the 'code'/'codebox' tags should stay just the way that it was input and not be processed in any way. Just my 2 cents.

Take care and thanks for all the hard work,

Rick Henson

Hi rick,

I misunderstood you when I wrote my reply. The tags actually should work like you want.

I have been able to find one problem. When using the WYSIWYG editor, the start of the link is chopped off. Is this what you were seeing? It's now fixed on this site.

If it's something else could you make an example post please.

I thought it sounded like a bug. He was trying to post html. To show me what he put in there.

This is the exact code he sent me via email that was not working.

Code

<a href="http://xxxxxx.com/site/index.php?page=donate">Please donate to help support this site!</a>

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

Chris,

Thanks for the reply. It was not cutting anything off for me, it was converting the text/code that AMI posted above to a HyperLink with the words "Please donate to help support this site!" being all that was visible. I am going to also try the same to make sure but it appears to be working for AMI so it must be fixed, Thanks as always for you very quick and hard work.

Well it must be something on my end. I use FireFox 3.01
