Well-settled

So I'm in the process of doing an upgrade from 8.1.2 to 9 and I decided to do the file validation test, just to be safe.  I know it said it would 10+ minutes, but it's been closer to 15 with no response on the page.  Also, there is no status of the current process on the page.

I have never used the file validation process before, so is this normal?  I'm starting to wonder if I should just cancel the process if I can figure out how.

Thanks

The integrity check is safe to halt via just clicking stop in the browser.

It should not take long, but disk speeds are slow on some servers.

This said, we did find an issue recently – if there are lots of non-ocPortal files in the directory, it has to list them all, which takes time and memory.

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Chris, after about 15 minutes I just clicked the back button and went on with the upgrade.  However, during the whole time the validation was running (if it ever did), I did not get a single notice on the screen that it was doing anything.  There are no additional non-OCP files that I can think of, as I don't have either the file or image galleries set up at this point.  Nearly all of my content is pure text in the Wiki.

But so far so good.  Thanks!

If it persists, please open a free ticket with FTP details and I'd be happy to investigate it.
