May be related to my corrupted files issue?

Greetings, This may or may not be releated to my Corrupted Download Files issue… Believeing in taking a proactive approach, and really wanting to get this aspect working… I have been digging through ocPortal like crazy. I have also been going through the server file manager and the database as best I can. Being not too knowledgable there though, it is highly likely I wouldn't have seen the problem even if it was big and hand a flashing neon sign pointing to it. Regardless, I have also cross checked on many browsers to ensure it just wasn't a Chromium goof. So I can rule that out. While searching through ocPortal, making sure I had any and all options covered that dealt with files, uploads, downloads, attachments… via the ever handy adminzone search box - by far the best improvement of ocPortal, right there with the improved WYSIWYG editor. And well, I discovered a forgotten aspect of ocPortal, the File Dump. Shrugging, and knowing I really ougta be taking care of my real life obligations instead of working on this, I decide why not. I go into file dump, create an obligatory folder, and upload a xls file with Test as its description. It wouldn't even bother uploading. Instead, it produces the following error:

You Shall Not Pass said

The uploaded file (Saga of Ablution Character Spreadsheet.xls) could not be moved to its target destination (uploads/filedump//Saga of Ablution Character Profiles/)
You see it don't ya? There's a tricky little extra / that snuck in there some how. Further inspection of the actual server file manager (through ftp and web-host provided interface (parallels - yuck), shows that the folder was not created with that extra slash, nor does it bear the extra slash. So for some reason, ocPortal is making that extra slash. This seems similar to a problem from the past… Well regardless, it may or may not be related, but perhaps ocPortal is doing something sort-of similar with my uploaded files? Just a thought…. Probably far off but *shrugs*…. I'd give you the stack trace, but it wants to copy and paste the whole bloody site here as well… note sure you'd appreciate that too much…

Hi. Double slashes happen sometimes in the code, but actually it never causes a problem, just user confusion. I have just fixed this one.
Probably you have a different problem, e.g. not having 777 perms on this folder, or PHP being in safe mode.

As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.

Greetings,

Folder is in 777 mode.

I am note sure about the safemode bit. I can't seem to find any infor right off on it. As I recall though I am using ocportal recommended htaccess, and I don't think that is possible with safemode… but then again, I may be wrong.

EDIT: ok… safemode is on… what a bother. Why use that crude… *sighs*
