Moving forward with Composr

1.) If I or anyone else want to host their unregistered site elsewhere, do you get the addons?
I ask this because it says it on "Start Construction, step 2" on the "Advantages to hosting elsewhere" part of the chart. [I'm making sure]

2.) If your host meets all the ocPortal requirements, do you get/keep all the features?

3.) And lets say your unregistered(like me) and you want to register, but don't have that kind of money, is there some plan?

1 - yes. The only reason addons can't be installed on our hosting is for security reasons.

2 - yes.

3 - We have a policy that we'll sometimes grant requests for free registrations based on good addons/themes/translations being released for the community.

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Ah, that sounds good. For the answer to the third question, your saying that you sometimes give requests for free registration(I understand that). It's what it's based on that confuses me, but I think I know what you mean.

That's a reward that should come unexpected, not a payment.
