1: How do I add or change user groups.
2: How do I make a reporting post forum
3: How do I make it so the posts in a forum aren't needing to be validated after the member posts.
4: Can I add youtube clips to a post?

Hi there Forumads,

1.
Usergroups can be changed using the admin zone -> Security -> Usergroups

2.
Reporting post forum can be changed through admin zone -> Config -> Configuration -> Member and forum options
there you will find it.

3.
Under Configurations (see 2) goto Site Options -> Validation tick validate on preview
this will force the user to preview the post and validate the post.

4.
I'm not sure about this one because I never used it. Maybe someone else can give you an answer.

YouTube should provide some HTML code. You can then write a post like:

Code

[html]
(code goes here)
[/html]

If you need users to be able to use youtube code you'd need to add a custom comcode tag. I've never done it before myself, but I'm sure it would be fairly straight forward. You'd put the code into the tag and replace the ID of the youtube video with "{content}". You'd then use the tag something like [youtube]id number[/youtube].

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.
