Hi Mathias,

Try inserting your script in HTML_HEAD.tpl at around line 133 below the jQuery activation script which you can also activate if needed.

Let me know about your falling snow script, I'm also looking for one.

Mathias, I've assumed you were using ocPortal version 9+.

If not, the file to modify is HEADER.tpl. You surely will find a similar location in it to insert your javascript.

Note that it is always better and more secure to modify these files from within ocPortal by going to:
Admin Zone-->Style-->Manage themes-->Edit Templates--> find the file on the list. This will ensure that the cache files will also be updated. If you do this from an FTP editor, you will have to run the Website Cleanup Tools to clear your cache.

Thanks so much for the reply. I've tried a bit but the script has no effect. Works on regular html pages etc. I'll try more. Here is the link to the script. It's just copy and paste.

Mathias,
I did some tests with your script and could not manage to make it work with any versions of ocPortal and also in HTML.

I found this script which can be inserted just before the closing of the body tag and works well with ocPortal v9.

As explained before, find this template: GLOBAL_HTML_WRAP.tpl
Insert the following script at the bottom of the file just before the closing of the body tag
It is very similar to yours, probably from the same author.

EDIT: Sorry, I tried to attach the script here, but it was getting corrupted in any comcode I was using.

Just go and get it HERE. It is going to be simpler.

Cheers,
Jean

Hello Jean, and thanks for the tips and ideas. I try some of your suggestions and see if I succeed. By the way, i use version 7.1.6, can be a bit tricky to fnd the right template files to insert the script in.

Mathias,
In this case edit FOOTER.tpl and at the end of the file just before the closing of the body tag </body>  insert your script.

Merry Christmas!

Hey harry! Nice to know that you found it useful to. It is simple, but adds a nice touch to a site for this period of the year, especially if you can enjoy real snow outside.

I'd change my username to Grinch for the 'Season', but it would probably get a lot of bad press …

… so I'll drink to that instead!

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

Nice find Jean! It's working fine on my site.

Although my background is white, there is just enough color difference the flakes can be seen without being annoying. Best of all… no negative remarks from my members.
