hi I have gone through Jean's tutorial today for facebook and itr seems to let me log in but when i go back to the "Facebook syndication / login" and also when i click save i get a redirect loop.

The webpage at http://rockradar.net/adminzone/pg/facebook_oauth/index.php?oauth_in_progress=0&code=AQCkrmd8QnS3C0anD9_TupkeEEnONzq-0BPTvnbaTm0bYFb5ntY7OEfW8ztl2au1j8oYShvmkdjiYirVkRoKndBbThLFeM_KIAOCndc8ftIuSZUxyRfGgxFqk1mkHy03tDRuTT442ftryrGl4p6HE0yCUecVZ9Nhe17kQfJBgp88IGVV0tYoJqdqNPg8nq--AzDb_zoxa1_GpX69epJQLXDQky-8jjcMtUgev3qB1Ddq1XwwWyAUKwUMmqNk489CD3Z9Q-efbOXxmT-bnskudWSXruHSXKk95eA1ebn03Ej0wXRBDO7EJV_JIjLT_kxfFIY&state=a9064bec1f0b99b4c93acc508e90d492#_=_ has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

It seems to let me and otehrs log in but doesn't post to my wall but there isn't a syndicate this option so i am guessing the redirect loop has something to do with this. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing the loop.

this is in version 9.0.7

Thanks in advance if anyone can help

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. Actually reading over this again, I can see it would probably be hard for me to reproduce, unless I was also a facebook app admin. I think I'd better set up a test site and go through the instructions myself.

Community saint

Another member sent me a PT this week mentioning something similar after trying to complete the last step 13 of my tutorial.

Visiting his site as an admin and trying to complete that final step, I've received the same message as Steven. My guess is that as I am not the owner of the Facebook app I could not trigger the Facebook Syndication Confirmation. The same could probably be true if someone has more than one Facebook account and logged-in from an app that has a different account source.  I remember receiving similar messages in my classroom when students tried to finalize their Facebook Syndication from the same Network.

I don't know if this is your case Steven but I just wanted to add one more piece of information here to help find a solution.

I did something wrong ;). An addon update came with the latest patch release, and caused an issue here (while a round up of smaller issues were resolved).

Btw, I posted a list of new notes onto Jean's Wiki+ page. It's about time I wrote them all down in the same place.

I should also note that I've updated the addon download. Hotfix is easier/fine though.

cheers, it all seems to be working for log in but have you any idea why it might not be showing a syndicate option for news or a forum post?

Did you re-run "Facebook syndication / login" after the hot fix? That is required to save the access token generated by Facebook. The bug was that it was not recognising it and also getting in a loop.

Is the user you're adding news with an admin? (It will check for the "Syndicate out activities" privilege, which by default other groups won't have)

Ok, I'd better take a look as this means stepping through the auth process.

If you want to proceed, I'll need adding to the Facebook app as a developer:

  1. Go to Facebook developer apps section
  2. Click the "Edit App" button
  3. Click "Developer roles" under the "Settings" menu
  4. Click "Add" over the Administrators section
  5. Add 'ocpchris'

Then I'll need to know the FTP details to the site (chris@ocportal.com).

I just signed into your site with Facebook Steve. But I will either need FTP access, or you could make my user an admin, before I am able to trace through why why the syndication option isn't showing up.
