Hi to everyone, I'm a new ocPortal happy user, and I'm trying to import a forum from an old website to the new ocPortal site.
But I get the following error message:

Could not connect to database-server (, mysql_connect() [<a href='PHP: mysql_connect - Manual'>function.mysql-connect.php</a>]: Access denied for user 'UNKNOWN_USER'@'xx.xxx.xxx.xx' (using password: NO))

the IP address in the error message is different from the one I provided during installation.
Anyone could help?
Thanks in advance
Giulio

Some info on what forum type you're importing, if it's the same database server as the main site has, what was autodetected and what you typed (maybe a screenshot with any passwords blacked out).

Afraid though I can't personally step through it on here as it's a support issue rather than a bug.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

I'm trying to import a phpbb 2.0 forum.
I created the new site in a subfolder of the old one.
The sites are on two different db on different servers.
Here are the images of mysql screen of old and new db, of the config.php file of the old site and of the info.php file of ocPortal site.

And here's the error message

Hi Fantasma,

It appears that aruba.it is using a redirect from the IP address you entered to the one shown in the error message. I would contact their support and ask them how to solve the problem. This is not an OCP error, it is a database connection error.

I remember reading something about how IP redirects block MySQL connections. MySQL usually listens on port 3306, but aruba.it may have changed that setting. At any rate, that would probably be your fastest means of resolving the issue.

Good luck,
doc

Thank you Doc, I've submitted the question to Aruba.it helpdesk.
I hope I could soon inform you about the solution they'll find!
