I have no idea what this all means, so I am reporting it to you.  I put in my admin username and password and got this page, copied and pasted it here.  Then I clicked on Adminzone and it opened right up as if nothing wrong.  Please let me know what I need to do, if anything. This is an interesting one. Are you using a custom theme? If so, could you post /themes/<your theme name>/theme.ini here please? If you're using the default theme (and haven't run the theme wizard), please post your /themes/default/theme.ini file here.

I am just using the default theme. Is there a way to get that file from within OcPortal?  I'm at work and can't access my hosting cpanel from here.

I just went in and tried looking in the Manage Themes section and got this error:

If you're just using the default theme, try downloading the manual installation, finding the /themes/default/theme.ini file in the zip, then uploading it over the copy on your website, as it looks to be corrupt in some way.

Okay, I'll have to do that tonight.  I can't do that kind of thing from my work. I'll give it a shot when I get home and let y'all know if it worked!

I'm not sure exactly what has happened here. From your posts it looks like you have suffered:
  • corruption of theme.ini files
  • losing of load access to PHP files
  • internal server errors
I've patched ocPortal so that theme.ini corruption is tolerated for the future, but the sudden torrent of problems here suggests something has happened on the server. It's difficult for me to speculate, but if it still is happening tomorrow and you would like us to investigate for you, we can do so for free and make any possible ocPortal improvements that the situation might show are useful. If you'd like this, please start a private support ticket with FTP access details, and make sure you agree to our server access policy.

I wonder if the server updated the php version.
I remember some thing happening to mine when they switched from php 5.1.* to 5.0 as 5.1 had some security holes.
It was easy to fix though I just reinstalled ocPortal as at the time I was mainly using it as a portal and invision power board was doing every thing else so it was easy to just delete it and reinstall it.
I could not do that now as I am using ocPortal for a lot more and will continue to use more of its features specially after 2.2 is made to be able to work on my server with out a problem. Right now do to some strange sql error I am only able to run invision power board 2.2 with limited capabilites and errors and several pages.
How ever 2.2 does work fine with ocPortal.

I run http://otakuplayground.com and am hopping to make themes and other things for ocportal even though I no longer use it for otakuplayground.com I still love it and feel it could go far with the right help. It needs themes and needs people to advertise for it.

I don't think they changed anything on the server, my host is usually pretty good about sending out announcements about that kind of thing, and I can't find anything in the announcements forum there, either.

When I get home I can try reinstalling a few of the components as instructed and see if that fixes it. It may be that I installed incorrectly, as I could not get the quick installer to work and had to do the manual thing. I have not made many changes, so if we need to do a fresh install and overwrite everything that would be okay too.

Let me see if I have the same problems at home and I'll post again. Thanks for all the help!

Okay, I gave 777 permissions to both the Adminzone folder and the index.php file, then uploaded the original theme.ini file and now I can't get into the Adminzone at all!  I'm getting a 500 Internal Server Error now.

I will enter a ticket as requested.  Thanks for your help!

The results are in…

  • Two problems caused by the theme.ini of a custom theme getting blanked out. Likely cause: some kind of server hard disk corruption.
  • Two problems caused by group/world write access being given to adminzone/index.php. Likely cause: unknown, but something outside of ocPortal's control.

It's likely the same hard disk corruption caused both classes of problem.

Thanks for letting us look into this digigirl. Your site is hopefully restored to working order now.

Thanks a bunch! I'll play with it tonight and let y'all know if any other weirdnesses crop up.

Thanks so much for your help. BTW, I do intend to register (hopefully this month or next), but I have to save my pennies first. ;)  I appreciate you helping me out in the meantime!
