I get an error, below, when a new member signs up.

I cannot use domains smtp server, as they require a logon to pop server before sending via smtp.

Can you tell me how to configure to get this working okay? I'd be very grateful.

Error:

WARNING [2] mail(): SMTP server response: 501 5.5.4 Invalid Address

A system e-mail could not be sent. This is a critical error, so

Hi,

This might seem an obvious thing to ask, but could it actually be that the given address was invalid? Alternatively, is it possible you've inadvertently set your staff address (in the configuration) to something invalid?

I can't see any errors in email addresses or pwds: Trying various options I get:

Using Use ocPortal's SMTP server connection code, rather than PHP's

Error = Could not connect to the SMTP server :0

Using PHP's connection:

Error = SMTP authentication not supported (502 unimplemented (#5.5.1) )

Using my domain smtp server with a correct username and pwd I get:

Error = WARNING [2] mail(): SMTP server response: 501 5.5.4 Invalid Address A system e-mail could not be sent. This is a critical error, so

Help!

Please consider posting FTP details to your website in a support ticket (the 'Contact us' option from the main website). I am reasonably confident that I can fix this problem quite quickly if I can run a few test changes on the server itself.
