Error in embedding flash object on front page

Hi all, I wanted to have a flash object on my front page of the ocPortal, but I'm having problems to view it. I create the codes through using Dreamweaver 8 and then copy paste them into the <Editing: :start> page through the comcode page. Can anyone please guide me to solving this problem? Thanks in advance.

Have you considered using an 'iframe' if the content is only for information? I mean that 'links' will be contained within the frame, so that might not be the solution.

I have a 'self-contained' display here, that is effectively a flash display, and this is how I shoe-horned it in …

Code

[title="1"]How I [i]Discovered[/i] Jindaroo Creek[/title]

[internal_table="How I [i]Discovered[/i] Jindaroo Creek - [i](by David McMahon)[/i]" place="middle"]

[semihtml]

(..... some text ..... mixture of Comcode & HTML .....)

<iframe title="A PictureEssay of David McMahon's prose and photographs using Album Creator Pro" scrolling="auto" src="{$BASE_URL}/albums/jindaroo/story0.html" width="100%" height="800" frameborder="0"></iframe>

[/semihtml]
[/internal_table]

… and you can see that it is a mixture of Comcode and HTML, requiring the "semihtml" Comcode tag as Harry has stated.

Hope that helps.

Take my advice. I'm not using it!

I think the best way to do it is the way Fletch mentioned, via an iframe.

I'm not completely sure as I've never done it before, but I don't think the page would be too happy with duplicate entires of all the HTML tags.

Although, if it's just the flash itself you want to embed, use this:

Code

[title="1"]Welcome to {$SITE_NAME}[/title]

[block="3"]main_greeting[/block]

[html]<center>
    <script type="text/javascript">
AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0','width','500','height','326','title','NYP','src','../flash/photo_gallery','quality','high','pluginspage','http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer','movie','../flash/photo_gallery' ); //end AC code
    </script>
    <noscript>
    <p>
      <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="500" height="326" title="NYP">
        <param name="movie" value="http://172.16.218.21:85/ocPortal/themes/huiqin/flash/photo_gallery.swf" />
        <param name="quality" value="high" />
        <embed src="http://172.16.218.21:85/ocPortal/themes/huiqin/flash/photo_gallery.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="326"></embed>
      </object>
    </p>
    </noscript>

    <script type="text/javascript">
AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0','width','520','height','270','title','intro','src','../flash/intro_text','quality','high','pluginspage','http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer','movie','../flash/intro_text' ); //end AC code
</script><noscript><object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="520" height="270" title="intro">
      <param name="movie" value="http://172.16.218.21:85/ocPortal/themes/huiqin/flash/intro_text.swf" />
      <param name="quality" value="high" />
      <embed src="http://172.16.218.21:85/ocPortal/themes/huiqin/flash/intro_text.swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="520" height="270"></embed>
      </object></noscript>
  </center>[/html]

This will basically exclude your custom CSS and title tags, leaving only the flash embedded into the page.

To Joe, I have tried it by removing all the <html> codes, but the flash object still doesn't come out on my front page. :(

I tried embedding it on my site, but I think the reason why I can't see it is because I can't connect to your sites IP Address.

Try hosting your flash elsewhere, use the code in my previous post, then see how that works.

Hi Joe, thanks for the code but i have found out the way to have flash embedded objects work - that is to remove the <script> tag leaving only the <object> tag. Hahaz, trial and error and it works! WOot!
