Have added the News function to our Home page. However when you click "Read more" it takes you to an auto-gnerated News Archive page which does not use our zone template. The site was configured with a single public zone so we think that this may be a bug or error. Can you please have a look and advise as we are unable to correct the problem.

The site is our own corporate site

Thanks Doug

The site zone does not have public access enabled for me to see, but my guess is the site zone isn't using your main theme - or by template maybe you just mean the panel layout, in which case it definitely wouldn't be.

Probably you just want to enable the 'Single public zone' option in the configuration to simplify things down.

If you do want a site zone you'll need to configure the panels on it, and make sure it is set to the same theme as the welcome zone (defined when you edit the site zone from Admin Zone > Structure > Zones > Edit Zone).

  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

[Responding for Doug]
We have have had the site set to "Single public zone" from the start, and both welcome and site zones share the same theme. This issue is the fact that all our content is in the welcome zone, and when you click "Read more" on the news block on the main page, it push's you into the site zone. Further more the change in zone breaks the url path for our image slider Iframe.

How can we let guests to the site "read more" news without the forced zone change? We enabled "Single public zone" to avoid zone crossing of this sort in the first place. Can the "read more" area not be linked through the welcome zone instead?
