Hi,

This appears to be an ocPortal bug on Windows.

"rb" actually means "read-binary", but ocPortal is trying to read a directory rather than a file here for some reason. This seems to not fail on Mac/Linux, but ocPortal should not be doing it.

Looking into it…

  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Hi,

This seems to be caused by an installed addon that has no files, and is being marked for removal in the Setup Wizard. I believe the attached will fix it:
Attachment
» Download: admin_setupwizard.php (41 Kb, 87 downloads so far)

Critical error – bailing out
This is an error that has been elevated to critical error status because it occurred during the primary error mechanism reporting system itself (possibly due to it occuring within the standard output framework). It may be masking a secondary error that occurred before this, but was never output - if so, it is likely strongly related to this one, thus fixing this will fix the other.

I'm really sorry to mess you about on this one, but I can't see what would cause this right now.

Could you open a support ticket with hosting access, and letting me know what settings to use in the Setup Wizard?
https://ocportal.com/site/tickets/ticket.htm?ticket_template=bug&cost=free
I can then debug through and work out the exact cause.

Hi,

So I've reconnected with Mr Rat on this, and I can now reproduce this problem on his server, in a mockup situation (so I don't need to run the Setup Wizard to do it).

Working out what is happening, then a resolution…
