Well-settled

I accidentally messed up a theme I was attempting to work on and change.. and got frustrated and deleted it without unchecking it… only to run into errors. So I attempted to reinstall the code.

At first, I attempted to do a manual install and got the error. So I figured I'd forgotten to chmod to 777 and did that. Same error.

Than I read how easy the FTP automatic install was… and it only takes less than 5 minutes and everything is automatically chmod to 777.

Same problem. So I figured I'd attempt to put everything in a new database… same error.

ftp_put() [<a href='function.ftp-put'>function.ftp-put</a>]: Can't open that file: Permission denied

Can't seem to do anything else after getting the error.

Any ideas?

I'd try deleting everything in your hosting control panel, assuming you have one and that you want to do a clean install. This is usually faster than deleting via FTP and has more deletion power than FTP.

What do you mean? Just delete all my SQL databases? Everything? I am currently running another site, which the results of ocPortal will eventually replace, so I don't want to shut anything down on the "main site" until I get this side up and running.

No, the ocPortal files using the file manager.

I will try again. I had deleted the files inside. This time, I deleted the entire subdomain and will see if that helps.

Also setting up the ocPortal on my free web hosting domain for testing purposes.

I'll let you know if everything was successful or not.

Edit: Btw, this was after I deleted everything in the file. I didn't attempt to run the installer with all my old files still in there. The whole file was deleted. But I am doing what I said above – deleted the subdomain, readded, and reuploading.
