Well-settled

from youtube and rutube

Can't see any way to embed video from youtube or rutube to video galleries. We have lot of video uploaded to youtube or rutube by players but it is not possible to upload it all to the site due to disk space and bandwith reasons. It would be just perfect if we could show embedded video in the galleries - we can do it in the forum but galleries module seems not accepting embedded movies - it requires a direct URL to the movie file. Is there a way to "teach" it taking embed movies as well? :)

I use catalogues for my youtube videos because they give the most flexibility.

You can see them in action on my site here: Blogs - Last Gamer .

They are displayed using a custom comcode tag I wrote. Let me know if you want the code.

Do you have a Samsung Galaxy S / Galaxy S II ? If so, why not check out my ScreenFree FM Radio .

Galleries do support it, use the full YouTube URL, not the embed code.

Was I helpful?
  • If not, please let us know how we can do better (please try and propose any bigger ideas in such a way that they are fundable and scalable).
  • If so, please let others know about ocPortal whenever you see the opportunity.
  • If my reply is too Vulcan or expressed too much in business-strategy terms, and not particularly personal, I apologise. As a company & project maintainer, time is very limited to me, so usually when I write a reply I try and make it generic advice to all readers. I'm also naturally a joined-up thinker, so I always express my thoughts in combined business and technical terms. I recognise not everyone likes that, don't let my Vulcan-thinking stop you enjoying ocPortal on fun personal projects.
  • If my response can inspire a community tutorial, that's a great way of giving back to the project as a user.

Ah yes, I remember now. I still needed to use custom comcode for my site though because I had several issues to deal with:

* Layering issues due to the fact that I have a fixed header
* needed to display the preview image for people that have flash blockers (myself included)
* needed to delay loading the videos until page loads to prevent screen flashing between page loads
